Description

Sarah J. Maas's sexy, richly imagined series continues with the journey of Feyre's fiery sister, Nesta.

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms.

  • Still one of my fave series

This book was my least fave of the series, but I am not surprised since Nesta has always been the character I liked the least. Her and Cassian’s relationship left me wanting more emotionally. Her character development went way to slow... like I maybe possibly liked her a little bit in the final 100 pages... but, really only for how she helped the other characters in the end. Either way, I still love this series and am excited to see who the rest of the books will be about. Mor, Az, Elain, Eris, Lucien, Tamlin even? I’m far more interested in their stories than anything related to Nesta; although honestly I’d be content with every book being about Rhys and Feyre.

I honestly enjoyed Nesta’s and Cassian’s story and would have totally been happy with just their journey. This book was exceptionally smutty and profane where the previous books had more tactful language and romance, it was reminiscent of Crescent City writing style. The plot line with the queen and Koshei did not really add value to this novel, it honestly felt really cliché and anticlimactic.
  • Too much time to get where it was going

I read this because I liked Cassian’s character and wanted to see what Maas would do with his and Nesta’s story. It was strangely slow in places and there was way more meaningless sex scenes than there needed to be. Took a long time to even get to a point where I was rooting for Nesta to get over herself. Ended up feeling like Maas put too much effort into reshowing us how terrible Nesta could be when we already knew it. And it took way too long to bring her redemption around. Also, in 8 months she went from zero training to being better than Illyrian warriors without any powers? That was a little hard to believe. I liked where the story went, just got there in a weird way and I could have done without the needlessly graphic sex scenes. There’s a balance she struck in Feyre’s books of being sexy without it being too much but she definitely went WAY past that line here.

I loved the other books in this series but this one was so different. I only kept reading it to find out what happened to the other characters. Nesta is so angry and mean. I found it hard to like her at all and the romance between her and Cassian was crude. This book was written differently than the first ones and just wasn’t my cup of tea.

I absolutely loved this book. It had the romance, the drama, the character development, and the personality that you hope to find in a good fantasy based story. Worth the read and/or listen!

This was great. I ate it up! Non stop action and what a romance. I love these characters and can’t wait to see what this author has in store for them (and us) next!

I have loved this series more than I would’ve ever believed possible. These books have become so important to me. If I could change anything it would be that I could read stories of this world and these characters all the time. When I started this one Nesta drove me crazy. I thought well this might be my least favorite. I couldn’t have been more wrong and shouldn’t have been surprised. Thank you for writing another amazing story about the greatest characters I’ve ever known!
